About Us

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY, GREAT TEAM AND GENTLE DENTAL CARE FOR ALL AGES

Great smiles and dental self-esteem is important for all ages. We are committed to providing gentle dental care from birth, following standards set by our founder, Dr. L.W Gordon- Veitch in 1963. The best care is given to a patient when there is an on-going relationship between patient, dentist and staff. We care about both the emotional and physical needs of all our patients. Prevention begins with early, non-emergency visits. This sets the stage for a relaxed, painless and stress-free dental experience. Our aim is to create a new generation of fearless patients. Interaction with extended families and other health professionals ensures the integration of dental health with the patient’s total well-being. We have state-of-the-art technologies that can provide patients with more ease as well as comfort during the dental treatment.

Paediatric and Family Dentistry began fifty five years ago as the dream of two persons who dared to be different: Dr. Lebert William Gordon-Veitch (LW) and his wife and business partner, Claudia.

The first location at 55 Molynes Road was opened November 1962. Patients from the community and government clinics from his beloved St. Thomas built the foundation of the practice.

Daughter, Dr. Erica Gordon-Veitch joined the practice after graduating from LWs alma mater, Newcastle Upon Tyne UK in 1981. She graduated as a Paediatric Dentist in 1987 from University of London, UK.

The practice grew, thanks to many referrals from patients, colleagues and the addition of the Paediatric component. The physical space was shrinking, however, and Claudia, who was still manager, agreed that this was indeed the time to move.

With foresight, she had invested in buildings at 57A Molynes Road, so we would not have to move out of our community.

As the years progressed, LW was encouraged to expand the practice. Claudia, ever the savvy businesswoman, felt that the time was not quite right. First daughter Erica by this time was at LW’s alma mater, Newcastle Upon Tyne,in the UK, on her way to trying to fill Dad’s size 13 shoes.

History was repeating itself as Dr. G. Erica Gordon-Veitch, upon graduating in July 1981, returned to serve her bond with the Ministry of Health. The Senior Gordon-Veitch was ecstatic; now he could get some well-deserved rest! In time, Dr. G. Erica Gordon-Veitch’s post as a school dentist propelled her toward her future as a Paediatric Dental Specialist from the University of London. Her farewell to her Dad at the airport in September 1986 was especially painful; he would not let go. Little did she know that was the last hug as LW died January 21st, 1987. The Dental and Molynes community truly lost a treasure.

With daughter Dr. G. Erica Gordon-Veitch in place continuing the family tradition, the practice grew thanks to many referrals from patients, colleagues and the addition of the Paediatric component. The physical space was shrinking, however, and Claudia, who was still manager, agreed that this was indeed the time to move. With foresight, she had invested in buildings at 57A Molynes Road, so we would not have to move out of our community.

Dr. Erica Gordon-Veitch was the first Jamaican director of the Dental Auxiliary School.

An active member of the Jamaica Dental Association, she has been President and Vice President twice, and chaired numerous committees.

Dr. Veitch was among the honorees for excellence in dentistry during the Jamaica Dental Associations 80th Anniversary celebrations in 2008. Being honored by her peers was one of her most treasured moments.

She was awarded the Order of Distinction, Commander Class for outstanding service to the Dental Profession, on August 6th, 2017. This is her crowning achievement as a true patriot.

Mentoring young dentists and students is part of her way of passing the torch to the next generation. More than ten of her young patients are dentists, specialists or on their way.

Our dream office was completed in January 2003 with the help of numerous talented professionals. We are constantly upgrading systems and protocols to meet international standards.

Much gratitude to our many devoted staff members, past and present, who brought us this far.

Our 50th Anniversary, celebration, July 2012, was a grand affair, right in sync with Jamaica 50. A dream fulfilled, and dental care continues!
